The Foundation for the Asheville Fire Department (FAFD) is to be the dedicated support model for the Asheville fire service by honoring our Four R's: Recognition, Remembrance, Resilience, Response.
RECOGNITION: To formally honor the selfless service and daily sacrifices made by our members, current and retired, often undertaken at significant personal risk.
REMEMBRANCE: To establish mechanisms for commemorating our past firefighters and their families, with particular acknowledgment of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
RESILIENCE: To both provide support for the emerging mental and physical health needs of our firefighters and to cultivate a resilient culture among City of Asheville residents for future emergencies.
RESPONSE: To enhance the operational responsiveness and safety of the Asheville fire service through supporting equipment acquisition, advanced training, and implementation of innovative technologies to ensure the highest standard of service delivery.
The FAFD provides an avenue to support the purpose and well-being of the Asheville Firefighters and enhance the safety of the community and its responders.
